Meet the Founders
Nick and Kris didn't build Astra to run a business. They built it because they'd spent years working in psychiatric care, watching patients leave appointments with a prescription and very little else, and believed there had to be a better way. They met working the same difficult shifts — Kris as a psychiatric nurse, Nick as a mental health worker. They became close friends. Years later, when the opportunity to build Astra arrived, they already knew what they wanted it to be: the kind of practice they would feel comfortable recommending to their own family members.

Nick Stanzione, MSN, PMHNP-BC
Nick brings a background in neuroscience and emergency medicine, and over a decade of direct psychiatric care, to every patient he sees. He's board-certified and licensed in Delaware, Connecticut, and New York.
Nick's approach is straightforward: understand why someone is struggling before deciding how to help. That means asking questions most providers skip, reviewing the full picture, and never treating a prescription as a substitute for actually listening.
Kris Generales, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Kris holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice — the highest level of clinical training available to a nurse practitioner — and has over a decade of experience across inpatient and outpatient mental health care. He's board-certified and licensed in Delaware, Connecticut, and New York.
Kris believes good psychiatric care begins with curiosity. Two patients can describe nearly identical symptoms and need completely different approaches. His job is to understand your whole story before deciding what comes next — and to make sure you understand the reasoning every step of the way.
